The Montessori Children’s House at Chapel of the Cross

"I hear, and I forget.  I see, and I remember.  I do, and I understand."
Maria Montessori, The Absorbant Mind

Our school is located in a beautiful Victorian home on the grounds of The Chapel of the Cross

Episcopal Church. We offer a safe, nurturing, prepared environment for children ages 3-6. Students

are exposed to a wide range of intellectual, physical, and social activities. They are free to discover, explore,

inspire and grow, while cultivating their desire to learn. We provide academic exposure to math,

geography, science, cultural awareness, reading and writing as well as art, music, and exercise

classes while fostering creativity, independence, self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-motivation.

The Montessori Children's House at Chapel of the Cross preschool and kindergarten has a few openings for the 2016-17 school year. We are also enrolling 3, 4 and 5 year olds for next school year. Please call to schedule a tour or submit an application.  We invite you to learn more about our school by contacting us. The school is located in the beautifully restored former parsonage house on the Chapel of the Cross property in Madison, MS. The school is open August - May.  We offer half day, full day, kindergarten and before school care. The goal of Montessori education is to encourage independence, love of learning, and a positive sense of self in a prepared environment.  Each child is encouraged to function independently at his/her own development rate.

In the traditional Montessori three-year program of 3 to 6 year olds, the child is exposed to areas that enhance independent thought, concentration, order, control, and creativity.  In this environment, the child has the opportunity to develop academically, socially, and emotionally, to his/her full potential and to become the person he/she is to become. Reminder: If you have visited the school and would like a spot for your child next year at our school, please turn in your application as soon as possible to ensure availability! Applications can be emailed to you if you have misplaced yours and can be returned by mail or dropped off at the school.  Please include the $25 application fee.  Email sharone.mch@gmail.com to request an application.

We are having a great year!
